Amazing day, we spent today 5/30/2010 on an American WaterSports boat and were blown away by how easy, fun and smooth the day was. We live in Miami and were apprehensive about renting a boat because of security deposits, hidden charges etc. They gave me a great price on the 24' Sundeck, with the only additional charges being tax and gas. Tax was the normal 7% and with gas we were given 2 options, prepay or refill. If you don't refill or prepay they will charge you a flat rate regardless of amount used, we chose to prepay. The flat rate for returning without prepaying or returning was a little high but made clear before we left.
After the paperwork we asked what we wanted to do/get out of the day. After we told them we were briefed on a map of the area and told where to go and how to get there. We went to Key Biscayne and anchored at a sandbar. After spending about an hour at the sandbar we stopped at a restaurant in "No Name Harbor." Then up to Downtown Miami for some sight-seeing. Went past the Downtown Miami skyline, which was amazing. Seen the cruise ships, South Beach, Star Island, Fisher Island and seen many other amazing sites along the way.
We stopped on Monument Island and had a picnic on the beach. After our picnic we took a slow cruise back towards Coconut Grove and stopped at a sandbar in front of Vizcaya. After about 30 minutes at the sandbar we headed back to return the boat. They helped us park the boat, gave us time to unload all of our stuff then checked out the boat. After checking out the boat, they returned our security deposit and sent us on our way. Will definitely go back and would recommend to anybody we know.
