Happy Customer, Fears/Worries About Latex Alleviated!

Prior to working with Astrabeds, I'd never heard of a latex mattress. I am thrilled to have found a natural, non-toxic alternative to other mattresses. Customer service was top notch. The folks at Astrabeds were so incredibly willing to answer our questions
about every aspect of our decision (I called several times!) and help us figure out which bed made the most sense for us based on our weight, sleeping positions, etc. They were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and informative. Very impressive. One of my greatest
concerns was that a latex mattress would "sleep hot" in the summer, and they were able to help me understand that in fact their natural latex mattresses do not have that problem and let the air circulate. We decided on Astrabeds over other latex mattress companies
because they use no glue between their layers, use wool instead of flame retardant chemicals, are certified organic, and use natural Talalay latex instead of a Talalay/Dunlop blend. We went with the Harmony Bed. Since I had never slept on a latex mattress before, I didn't know what to expect. I worried we might "sink into" it or leave indentations, or that it might feel really weird compared to the spring mattresses we were used to. I
was also worried it would have an odor. Happily, none of those things happened. We don't sink in, we don't leave indentations, and we are very pleased with the "bounce" and support and feel of the mattress. I noticed no odor at all at any point, even at the
beginning! I was worried a latex mattress was going to be a completely different "feel" from a spring mattress, but it really wasn't a giant leap away from what we were used to in terms of feeling like a "normal bed-" by that I mean it is not immediately obvious
to anyone who sits on it that you've bought an "alternative" mattress, you know what I mean? It is not a compromise in terms of giving up comfort to avoid toxins. AND it is much quieter than a spring mattress, much easier not to disturb your partner, no pesky
springs poking up or around, but overall still has the support, bounce, and cushy yet firm feeling you expect and enjoy. It really does feel like you have a core of firm support holding you up from within the mattress, but it is not hard as a rock- the top
still feels cozy and comfy. I suppose that is all I have to say! We've slept well on our mattress from day 1 and are very happy with our decision. I also like knowing that we could adjust the layers if we needed or wanted to- haven't felt the need in 6 months,
but happy to know the option is there! Like other reviewers have noted, the mattress is quite solid and heavy. You may want to arrange for some friends, neighbors, or strong teenager boys to be around to help you get it where you need it to be the day it arrives.
Not a huge issue given all the advantages, just something to plan accordingly for!
