Review 8/15/2009
|
I have not filed a complaint with the BBB I think this review will serve a better service. If it gets removed then I will file a complaint. I hope no more people are taken by this company.
I doubt that this company has registered any vehicles in this program,
maybe they have. I heard from another dealer the one that we bought a
car from that they opted out of the program and it has only been 4 days
since we canceled our deal because of their shadiness.
This complaint is regarding:
Borman Motor Company
470 W. Boutz
Las Cruces NM 88005
We went into the dealership on August 2nd to take advantage of the CARS
program and contracted with them on the deal. They told us that we had
to wait until they got reembursed for the funds to pick up the car and
we had to keep our vehicle. This didn't sound right to me so I
researched the proceedure on line. I was not comfortable with keeping
the car when the regulation says that the car is to be held on the lot,
then I thought maybe they know something I don't so, I called other
dealers in the area and in TX which is only 45 miles away they told me
that was not the way they were handling the deal. We decided to give
them a week to give us a call. I called on August 10th monday and found
out there was a specific woman who entered the deals for the CARS
program and talked with her, she told me that the transaction had not
been entered. I told her I wanted to talk to someone and voice my
complaint she said I could talk to the sales manager on duty.
Here is a time line.
1: They told us that the way it works is we write the deal and then we
keep our "clunker" and they keep our purchased car until they get their
money in hand. (August 2)
2. We agreed to their deal not knowing that it was not the correct way
of handling the CARS program, until we talked with other dealers.
3. I was told on at least two separate occasions that there was no word
from the government as of the time I called. This implied to us that our
Van had been submitted and we were still waiting for the government
approval. (between the 3rd and the 8th of August)
4. On the Monday I called and finally got the woman that actually was
supposed to do the submission of our Van, I found out that she never
received the paper work from the sales manager. Consequently we waited 8
days and our deal had not been honered. (August 10)
5. The information about the lack of submission wasted 8 days of the
very limited time we had to participate in the CARS program before they
ran out of funds and it was over. (this was before the second funding)
6. We "heard" that they were actually not participating in the program
because they had yet to get back even one actual approval.( told to us
by the sales manager when he said they had many submissions, several
rejections, and no approvals.) .
7. And we had great difficulty imposed on us when we attempted to cancel
the deal due to their lack of fulfilling their part of our signed
contract in a timely manner.
What we do not know is how many were submitted (really legally
submitted), how many they actually got approved if any, or how many
customers fell into the same category as us, thinking they were doing
their part in the program only to find out they were not. There might be
other customers that were misled or outright lied to.
I have heard other horror stories from people and other dealers and
people who have worked for this dealership (but that would be hearsay).
We have been since told that we should not have patronized this dealer.
They are known for bad business practices. We do not feel that this type
of word of mouth warnings is good enough, something needs to be done
about these business practices.
I am relaying this particular incident as it personally affected us and
if the CARS program hadn't been extended, and if we had not taken
control of this deal we would have lost out on the opportunity to be
included because of this dishonest business.
If I could give them a NO STAR RATING I would.
