Oct. 19, 2009: purchased a LS-6 ACF telescope for $1,500. Since that time I have been unable to get the telescope to work properly ( in some cases at all).
Oct/Nov: I could not get a fix on any stars. Nowhere in the manual does it tell how to troubleshoot this. Took a few days to get info to fix this.
Nov. 24, 2009: The telescope will not center objects in the field of view, but always off to the edge. I tried the instructions for both night and day calibration, neither work.
Dec. 2009: Next, GPS will not work satisfactorily: some nights, 20 minutes before I get GPS and star alignment, other nights no GPS without repeatedly powering on and off, some nights no GPS turn off telescope and put away.
Jan., 2010: “flash read error” telescope freezes. Email customer service, no response. I call, I need a firmware upgrade (why wasn’t the newest firmware provided in the first place)? Tell me download newest and load into telescope, (needs mini SD card) mini SD cards difficult to get anymore. They will send me a card with firmware. Actually they do.
April : 30 wait minutes no GPS telescope freezes, no way to use telescope. Email customer service…. No response. Email again… no response.
July, 2010: Send letter to CEO Murdock ….. no response.
I would like Meade first to simply acknowledge and respond to my concerns.
Return the telescope for analysis and if defective fix or refund my money.
If they claim it is okay, prove that to me in a field trial.
