I called Mike Diamond plumbing and they said they could come out the same day which was good, but that's where the good ends. My plumbing wasn't backed up, just running slow and I knew what it was....tree roots. About every 5 years or so I need to have the line cleaned out to the main sewer line because my historical home has clay sewer pipes that have a few cracks (10 years ago I had a plumber put a camera down the line) so the trees in my yard start to slow the system down. When the tech showed up 40 minutes late, I told him that I wanted the $99.00 clean-out. I showed him exactly where the line was and where it turned to the street and where it meets up with the county main line. He told me that he only has 100 feet of snake so it would only go 1/2 way from the clean-out in the yard next to the bathroom to the middle of my yard. I knew this was BS because I have measured it out before. He said I would need the pressure clean-out method which has 4000 psi and would cut the roots right out.......FOR $750.00. After laughing a little bit, I told him just to do the job and he said that I should do the pressure clean-out or not do the job at all. I asked him 2 more times where the 100 foot snake would go and he walked me 1/2 way out to my yard and said there is no way it would go farther than that. I had him to walk the path of the line with me one foot in front of the other, and guess what? The entire length of the line out to the center of the street where the county main line meets is.....ta da, 98 feet. I told him to just do the job. Once the snake came out, there were at least 5 pounds of roots and it was a bundle as large as the stings on a large mop. I am glad I knew what I was talking about when I called these idiots out.........the $99.00 is a great price, but I am sure glad that I am not a vulnerable elderly woman.
