We have been looking for reputable breeders of boxers in the South Florida area, and they are very hard to find. I found premiumbreeders.com and called. Based on their Lifetime Warranty and the fact they claim to use breeders in a home instead of puppy mill breeders, I thought they might be what we were looking for. While I was on the phone with the person interviewing me, I started searching the Internet to see how their reputation was. I did find a negative review and when I mentioned this to the interviewer, he said I should look at a more reputable source, such as the Better Business Bureau. I thought that was an excellent idea and I found two reviews that were positive. We still wanted to think about the purchase of the puppy because of the amount we would be spending so we put a deposit down on a particular puppy. I was told the deposit would be $650 and that I would have 2 days to decide. Well, they charged my account immediately and the amount was $696.10.
I continued doing research and found that Premium Breeders has another name, Breeders Direct. When I went to breedersdirect.com, the exact same puppies were on this site. When I searched for this name in BBB, there were so many negative reviews, I immediately changed my mind. When I called the company back, they told me it would take 7 - 10 days to receive my money back and that someone would be calling me. They did finally take the hold off of my account.
I have some ideas about why they use two different names, but no matter what, you should look at the reviews from the other name and also search the Internet for the reputation of both. I did not receive a puppy and I did receive my money back, but I think it is only fair a consumer have all of the available information before paying so much for a puppy unseen. There are also good reviews out there, so please judge for yourself. Good luck.
