ATTENTION!!!
Be aware of this dentist! He is nothing but a crook and a thief preying on innocent patients and their pockets.
I went to this dentist (Sutherland) to do a Root canal on my tooth. After the initial exam he recommended that, besides Root canal on my tooth # 6, I also needed crowns on the # 6, 10 and 11th to protect my teeth; otherwise I will lose them in a short time. He said that he uses a new proven procedure and warranty all their work. My first impression about him was that he looked to me like an honest and friendly dentist and I agreed to pay about $4,000.00 to fix all three teeth. I was terribly wrong. Now I wish I never went there.
First, he sent me to another dental office to do a Root canal, and Dr Smolkin did a fine job. After that Dr.Sutherland worked and finished three crowns in several weeks. A couple weeks later one of the crowns (# 10) became loose and I went back to repair it. When Dr.Sutherland was removing that crown he broke my tooth # 10.He did not even apologize for that, just said oops and that he will now do a Root canal on this tooth, insert a post and build a new tooth without charge. Several weeks after he did that, my tooth # 10 was broken again. I set an appointment for the next day. When they realize that was me, they called and postponed my appointment for 1 month because they “forgot” that Dr Sutherland won’t be available until the following month. I knew right then they were lying. The next day, I had my friend call the office and he had no problem making an appointment with Dr.Sutherland for following week. Again, he did something with my tooth that lasted several weeks and the tooth was loose again. Short while after that my teeth # 6 and # 11 fell off. I went to a different dentist to fix teeth # 6 and #11.She could not fix # 10 because it was broken inside the root canal which requires surgery and implants. I went to see Dr Sutherland again after several attempts to make an appointment. They did an x-ray, made me wait in the dentist chair for almost an hour. He did not want to talk to me, just had his assistant tell me that he agrees with my new dentist and he will do me a favor if I pay $5,200.00 for an implant he will refund me $995.00 that I previously paid for the crown .What a generous offer!! Can you believe that!! What happened with doctors’ ethics?? Is the money the most important thing? How about the patient? What can I do now? Only thing left is to sue him which I will do.
By the way, I forgot to mention that he lost mine and some other people’s personal information and did not bother to let me know. I found that from another patient.
If you need a dentist, don’t go there. Even if he is the only one in California.
