Incident = Our 2007 Sienna had a brake job done by an independent mechanic with genuine Toyota parts in February 2010. By the next day the ABS indicator and several others came on the dashboard, and the smell of burnt rubber from the wheel housing so we immediately returned the vehicle back to the mechanic and he seemed to fix the problem. However on May 22 the problem arose again but this time much worse. We had another independent garage check the car and found that it needed a new ABS module. The original mechanic arranged for Sunnyvale Toyota to do a diagnostic check on the vehicle and found that the whole braking system was corrupted and it would cost over $8,000 to fix the problem. I was appalled that Toyota was unwilling to work with me about fixing the problem, all they cared about was why didn't I purchased an extended warranty not that it was a safety issue. When I purchased this car in 2008 I didn't feel the need for a warranty on a vehicle that was only 1 year old also ABS module very rarely needs
to be replaced and never at 47,000 miles. My mechanic and I were disappointed with Toyota and thought it was best to get rid of the vehicle.
Damage Resulting = Since the vehicle couldn't be driven for any long distance, I had to trade it in for a 2007 Honda Pilot in their used lot and take a loss on my vehicle,plus the helpless feeling being forced into this decision.
