Review 6/22/2009

My spouse had a crown replaced or repaired. The color is horrible. The billing amount was incorrect. The treatment date was April 2007. It was discovered the remaining amount was incorrect, so the amount of $621.90 was adjusted to $465.97, April 2008. Over the past two years, I filed a grievance with the Dental Bureau of California. After a long investigation, the Dental Board suggested I contact a lawyer and a local dental society. After a short reprieve of insurance billings and insurance denials, I received another notice SmileCare requesting payment from my insurance company. I contacted SmileCare and demanded the crown replaced or the balance cancelled. My spouse got a free office visit with another dentist. The original dentist is no longer with SmileCare. This dentist said he would replace the crown after periodontal work done on the same tooth. After this visit and within a week, I went to my current, reputable dentist (not SmileCare) for a cleaning and work on another tooth; periodontal work for the same tooth was not mentioned! SmileCare volleyed my concerns between the Vallejo (SmileCare dentist office) and Santa Ana (corporate) for the past two years. This is a good ploy to make you give up and go away. The workmanship was horrible. The billing was wrong. I really do not a dentist from Smilecare to perform another procedure. I do not trust the company. They will not cancel the balance and they will not fix the poor workmanship. I should not have used this dental service. No one should. It is obvious to me the patient's well being is not a concern. SmileCare is a rip-off. This company has had over 160 complaints in three years.
